Born in Morpeth, Northumberland. Moved with work frequently all around the country but eventually settled at The Hill Cumbria in 1988. Worked as a Governor in the Prison Service in a variety of roles for 39 years for which I was awarded the CBE. I retired in 2009 when I was Assistant Director responsible for all the Prisons in the Northwest.
