There's exciting news that the proposed childrens' play area has reached another milestone with the submission of the Parish Council plans to Copeland Borough Council.

The plans include a graphic impression of the play area layout which will be constructed close to the entrance of the Thwaites Village Hall field. Shown on the plans is a list of the various pieces of equipment which will be provided by the suppliers, Kompan. Kompan are a Danish company and world's leading provider of playground equipment. Working alongside their team the Parish Council have developed a scheme which meets the brief of the Community Plan to provide a safe, child-friendly play facility for younger children.

If all goes to plan, the play area will receive planning consent towards the end of August and installation will begin around six weeks from then. We would have loved to have been able to advance the project sooner, bringing it on line with the grand reopening of the Village Hall but the effects of the pandemic slowed progress in the early part of the year.

The council would like to thank the Village Hall and its committee members for their great support during the planning process and we wish them well with their own project to refresh the decoration of the building and surroundings.
