The economic and health impacts of walking on English coastal paths: A baseline study for future evaluation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The England Coast Path and the England Coast Path Programme The “England Coast Path” (ECP) will be a new 2,700 mile National Trail around all England’s coast. The Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 formally established the “coastal access duty”, which creates the legal obligation and process to create the ECP.
The England Coast Path Programme (“the Programme”) is delivering access improvements in order to provide the rights of access necessary to complete the ECP. It will join up existing coastal National Trails (e.g. the Cleveland Way, North Norfolk Coast Path and South West
