Appointed and Elected at the 11th May 2015 Parish Meeting, to Serve on the Duddon Partnership
Jeg Gray moved to The Hill with his parents in 1959 and attended Lapstone Road Boys’ School and Millom Comprehensive school. In 1970 he moved to the North East attending Teesside Polytechnic and Durham University Business School studying business and management. He spent three years with Northumberland County Council undertaking time and motion study both in the office and with outdoor manual workers. Following this he spent 31 years at Northern Rock’s headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne following a varied career which included internal business consultancy, systems analysis, marketing planning and direct marketing, Treasury project management, business continuity and computer information security. He accepted voluntary redundancy and early retirement in 2008, following the bank’s difficulties.
During this period in the North East he stayed with his parents at The Hill about six times every year. He was chairman of the Sunderland Countryside Rangers for 16 years. He moved back to The Hill in 2013. His interests include protecting the countryside and making people use their vehicles more responsibly. He is Tower Captain of the bells in St George’s Church, Millom.
